Desperado would be someone's ideal first horse, She's a draft horses and can carry heavier riders up to 250 lbs, but she doesn't have the big dinner plate size feet like a Belgian, Clydesdale, or Percheron have because the Spotted Draft breed was created by crossing a regular size Paint horse with a full size draft horse. She's tall enough for riders over 6 ft, but I'm 5'6" and can mount her from the ground without the benefit of a mounting block. She has nice, big cannon bones and is large boned, in general. She has impeccable ground manners and will do "pony rides" and ride double on the trails so that young kids can ride with a parent. She is nonplused by 4-wheelers, tractors, deer, dogs, flocks of birds suddenly taking flight, mud, creeks, and bridges. She'll go anywhere you point her head. You can see videos of Desperado being mounted, dismounted, backed, and at the trot, canter, and walk/trot/canter by clicking on the links provided.

She comfortable with vehicles, dogs, kids, and deer. She won't put you all up in the bushes at every mud puddle either. She crosses creeks and bridges without hesitation. She's an ideal horse for a beginner because she rides with confidence.

Milly will ride alone or in a group. She isn't disturbed by other horses nearby (click on the link to see see the video for evidence as we pass by a neighboring farm with their horses at the fence line near the gate), and she is bombproof (click on the link to see supporting documentation that is live testimonial that she has no response or reaction to the loud dump truck as it's bed falls back into place, and she settles down imediately after cantering as you can see in the beginning of the 'bombproof' video when I take my hands completely off her reins just after videoing her at a canter... and we were headed back to the barn!). She's just as easy to urge into a trot or canter, but she doesn't get stuipid, excited, or out of control even if I ask her to trot or canter back to the barn.

Belle - Draft Cross Horse For Sale

* Sale Pending *

Horse For Sale In Raleigh, NCAge - 13 year-old

Breed - Belgian Cross

Height - 14 hands

Estimated Weight - 1,400 lbs

Gender - Mare

Color: Chestnut

De-wormed - 8/15/18

Teeth Floated - 9/6/18

Neg Coggins - 9/6/18

Price - $5,900

Belle fills a very unique and difficult but broad niche of riders. She's a Belgian cross mare standing at just 14 hands and weighing at least 1,400 lbs. She's a large horse who can carry heavy riders, but she's easy to get on and off! (Click on the link to witness.) She is perfect for kids, senior citizens, beginners of any age, and vertically challenged, hefty adults. She's gentle and ANYONE can ride her. A sack of grain could ride this horse. She's reliable and broke to death, but she keeps up with the group. She's not a dead head that you have to constantly urge to keep up. Nobody's going to leave Belle behind in the woods!

She has impeccable ground manners, so you can lead little bitty kids around on her for a "pony ride", but Belle's not a pony! Belle has a draft body on short, stout legs, so she can accommodate riders up to 230 lbs without you having to use a mounting block. What a concept! She'll walk (even when ridden alone, the wind blowing, me urging her to trot, and a dog frolicking along with her), trot, and canter with ease when asked. She'll ride in any position on the trail - front, back, or center. She doesn't kick or bite at other horses when under saddle on the trail, and she's very submissive to the other horses out in the pasture at feed time. She's never the first to eat, but she's not the last either, so at least she won't be beat up every time you go to ride her. She comes to you in the pasture; you'll never have to chase this horse.

I've had her for nearly a year and have ridden her on our trail system, which includes rolling hills, many creek crossings, land bridges, and some muddy spots, and she crosses them all without hesitation. She is a very confident forward mover, so she rides well in the front leading rides and alone. She could easily ride with gaited horses and have no difficulty keeping up. She's comfortable with large flocks of birds suddenly taking flight, deer jumping up from behind fallen trees or creek beds, dogs on the trail, 4-wheelers, tractors, and traffic.

An intermediate rider would really appreciate her especially if you ride alone frequently. Vanilla doesn't need to comfort of having other horses leave the barn with her, she isn't upset when she leaves her pasture pals, and she seems to enjoy getting out to explore new territory. She's not even bothered by flags flying with the sound of the rigging flapping and the moving shadows on the ground generated by the flags waving in the wind. Vanilla is too much horse for a young novice child, and she's too tall to be an ideal kid's horse anyway. She'll ride English or Western. She'll walk through creeks or jump them nicely if asked. She is one of my guide's favorite horses to ride, and she is registerable. I just never bothered to register her in my name. You can see her temporary registration papers in the photos below.

We purchased her with a wound that's in the coronary band and the hair line above it. At that time, it was infected, but we treated it successfully, and she is 100% sound now. She sells as sound, but if you have any concerns, you are welcome to pay to have a vet come out and do a pre-purchase exam on her so that you can feel confident in her soundness. I've included a picture of the old injury and the resulting scar tissue on her left front leg. If you are wanting a show horse, this may be a serious consideration, but if you are looking for a nice trail horse that's happy to ride alone or in a large group of horses, Vanilla may be the right horse for you. You can get an ideal of her size by looking at the picture above of her in the pasture with our 17.2 hand Percheron, Chester. This nice Palomino horse is for sale for just $1,600.

Horses for More Experienced Riders

I am selling a few of my personal horses only because I have 5 personal horses, and I'm lucky to get one ride out of a set of shoes because I'm too busy training or fixing issues that arise with my rental horses or horses I'm planning to sell. Given that, I don't feel it's fair for them to just pine away in a pasture getting older with each passing year. My personal horses are great quality horses. They just need experienced riders to appreciate them.

In my ads, I try to be very honest about the level of rider needed to ride the horses I'm offering for sale. I don't want to waste your time or mine. So if you're a good rider, you may want to check out some of my personal horses: Pablo, Karma, and Destiny. Prices listed are firm.
